Quick answer

Visages give set bonuses at two and four matching pieces. GameWith lists 11 Ink sets: five boost one element, and the rest cover physical damage, affinity and ultimate charge. An adventurer can equip up to 12 Cost of visages.

"Visage" is one of the systems players ask about most, so here's what's published. These figures come from one source, GameWith. We haven't tested them in-game, so check the numbers in your client.

How visages work

  • Matching visages give a set bonus at two pieces and another at four pieces.
  • An adventurer can't equip more than 12 Cost of visages, according to GameWith. It doesn't give a slot count.
  • Core effects need a separate core slot.
  • GameWith calls the four-piece set that suits each adventurer the final goal.

Element visage sets

Pick the set that matches your adventurer's element. To find what a monster is weak to, use the weakness chart, or the build planner to match both at once.

SetElement2 pieces4 pieces
Ink of FlamesFireFire damage +5%After hitting a weak point, fire damage +24% for 20s
Ink of WaterWaterWater damage +5%Each time a squadmate uses an ultimate, water damage +6% for 60s, up to 4 stacks
Ink of ThunderThunderThunder damage +5%After dealing damage, thunder damage +5% for 12s, up to 5 stacks
Ink of FrostIceIce damage +5%After hitting a monster, ice damage +24% for 8s
Ink of DragonDragonDragon damage +5%After using an ultimate, dragon damage +24% for 60s

The conditions differ a lot, and that matters more than the headline number. Ink of Frost only needs you to keep hitting, but its bonus lasts 8 seconds. Ink of Water relies on your squad using ultimates. Ink of Flames needs you to hit weak points.

Do five water visages do anything extra?

Players ask this a lot. We couldn't find a published fifth-piece bonus. The sets we can see only have two-piece and four-piece tiers, so a fifth matching visage wouldn't appear to add another set bonus. It could still help through its own stats. Check the set text in your client.

Which visage set is best?

We don't know yet. No damage formula has been published, so nobody can properly compare these bonuses, and the answer depends on your adventurer and squad. Be cautious with any ranking that claims otherwise.

What's still unknown

  • How many visage slots each adventurer has
  • How Pigments and upgrades affect each piece, in numbers
  • Whether every server has the same visages
