Monster Hunter Outlanders Lag, Crashes and Connection Errors

Monster Hunter Outlanders lagging, overheating or crashing? See the official device requirements, what players report, and sensible steps to try first.

Spoiler-freeUpdated Sourced from the official site and App Store listing

Quick answer

The official recommendation is iOS 17 or Android 12 with 6 GB of RAM. A phone can meet the App Store minimum of iOS 15 and still struggle. Players report crashes, heat and connection errors, while others on stronger phones say it runs smoothly. Lower the graphics first.

We've read player reports on this, but we haven't tested specific phones. The steps below are general advice for demanding mobile games, not official fixes.

We couldn't find an official minimum Android device list. The gap between iOS 15 and iOS 17 is worth noticing: the App Store will let you install on a device below the recommendation.

What players are reporting

  • Crashing and lag, including from a player whose phone meets the stated minimum.
  • "Connection error" messages that one reviewer could only clear by restarting the device.
  • Heat. Inven Global also mentions device overheating among player concerns.
  • Graphics locked to Power saving after logging back in, reported on Reddit by a player who had been on medium.
  • Phones that can't cope. Some players say outright that their phone can't run the game.

Other players report the opposite on their devices, including reviews calling it very well optimized, with no frame issues or disconnects. So your phone seems to matter a great deal.

What to try first

Try these in order, and test after each one.

  1. Lower the graphics setting. Reduce the quality and frame rate first, since it's the biggest lever you control. If it resets to a different preset after you log in, check it again.
  2. Restart the device. At least one player found this cleared a connection error.
  3. Close other apps. Memory matters here, given the 6 GB recommendation.
  4. Free up storage. The download alone is 3.6 GB and will grow with updates.
  5. Let the phone cool down. Take it out of a thick case, and avoid playing while it's charging.
  6. Update the game and your operating system. Check for maintenance notices too, since the servers may be the problem.

If it keeps crashing

Report it through in-game support, with your device model and operating system. Official replies to reviews so far have mostly been generic, so include as much detail as you can.

If you're on Android and tempted by a "crash fix" app or a modified file, don't. Accounts promoting those fixes are common right now, and installing one puts your account and phone at risk.

Could a PC or emulator solve it?

There's no official PC version. See our PC and controller page for what that means, including why we don't recommend a specific emulator.

Connection errors and your server

Garena's servers are separated by region, and you can't transfer your data. If you chose a server far from where you live, higher latency is to be expected, and you can't fix that by moving your existing account. See servers and regions.
