What is Monster Hunter Outlanders?

It's a mobile entry in the Monster Hunter series. The official site calls it a survival hunting action game, licensed by Capcom and developed by TiMi Studio Group, a Tencent Games subsidiary. You hunt monsters, craft and upgrade gear, and recruit Adventurers.

Is it a real Monster Hunter game?

It's officially licensed, and Capcom announced its release. It plays differently from the main series in one big way: you recruit characters through a gacha, which many long-time fans dislike. Here's what we know about the pay-to-win question.

iOS and Android. There's no official PC or console version. It does support controllers.

Is it free?

It's free to download, with in-app purchases that run from $0.99 to $99.99 on the US App Store.

Is it a gacha game?

Yes. The SSR rate starts at 0.6%. A guaranteed SSR comes by pull 90, and a limited banner's pickup is guaranteed within 120 pulls. The gacha guide has all the rules, and the pity calculator works out your own odds.

Which monsters are in it?

Can I play with friends?

You can hunt with others, and co-op earns its own currency. On Garena's servers you can't team up, add friends or join squads across servers, so agree on a server first.

Can I play on two devices?

You can move between devices on one account, but Garena says you can't be logged in on two at the same time.

The US App Store lists it as 16+.

How big is the download?
