Quick answer
Pull if you can reach about 80 pulls, which gives 51% odds, or 120, which makes it certain. Stopping well short of pull 74 gives poor odds: 50 pulls is only 14.82%. If you can only afford a little and want a later character, saving usually keeps more value.
On this page
"Should I pull for Midori?" and "Is it ideal to skip?" are among the most common questions in Monster Hunter Outlanders comment sections. We can't tell you whether you'll enjoy a character, and we won't rank Midori against anyone until there's repeatable evidence. What we can do is show what each choice costs.
When does the Midori banner end?
The Midori Featured banner, "Autumn Refrain", started on October 29, 2026 and uses Featured Contracts. Guides list the end as either November 26 or November 27, and both can be right. Fextralife says limited recruitments end at 02:59 UTC on their last day, and 02:59 UTC on November 27 is still the evening of November 26 in the Americas.
To be safe, finish your pulls by November 26, and check the countdown on your in-game banner page.
How many pulls does Midori take?
| You make this many pulls | Chance of getting Midori |
|---|---|
| 30 | 8.96% |
| 50 | 14.82% |
| 74 | 23.57% |
| 80 | 51.03% |
| 90 | 59.39% |
| 119 | 70.17% |
| 120 | 100% |
These assume a fresh start. On average it takes 84.8 pulls. If you've already pulled, your odds are better than this table, so put your real numbers into the pity calculator.
The important part is the jump between pull 74 and pull 80. Those few pulls add more than the first 74 do, because soft pity has begun. It means the worst place to stop is just before soft pity.
Three ways to decide
You can reach 120 pulls
You're certain to get Midori, and you may finish early. If your first SSR is the pickup, you keep the rest.
You can reach about 80 to 110 pulls
You have better-than-even odds, somewhere from 51% to 67%. It's a reasonable gamble if you want Midori. If you lose the 50/50 you keep the guarantee for the next SSR on a Featured banner, so your spending isn't wasted.
You can only reach about 50 pulls
You have about a 15% chance. Your pity count still carries to the next Featured banner, so these pulls aren't lost, but your 120 count is. If there's a later character you want more, compare both with the pull or save planner.
What if you're waiting for another character?
Third-party trackers list Freya, a Fire Great Sword, on a "Crimson Authority" banner from November 27, 2026 to January 21, 2027. We can't confirm that: those pages name no official source, one of them warns its dates are only planning aids, and GameWith lists no upcoming banners as of its November 3 update. Treat it as likely but unconfirmed.
If it is right, Freya and Midori share an element. So if you only want a Fire attacker, you may not need both.
Here's the trade-off with made-up numbers. Say you have 60 pulls now and expect 30 more before the next banner:
| Choice | Midori | Next pickup | Both |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pull until Midori, keep the rest | 17.69% | 46% | 4.29% |
| Save everything | 0% | 59.39% | 0% |
And if you have 120 pulls now with 30 more to come, pulling gets you Midori for certain and leaves a 29.21% chance at the next one. Saving makes the next one certain.
How can you get Featured Contracts?
GameWith lists 20 from season rank rewards, 6 a season from the Rumbling Gear exchange and up to 5 a month from the shop exchange, plus events. The paid Rumbling Furnace track adds 5. Our contracts guide has the full list, including what they cost in Rutacoin.
Will Midori come back?
We don't know. GameWith describes Midori as a limited SSR, and Fextralife's text from the game says a Featured pickup doesn't join the Standard pool after its banner ends. We've found no official rerun policy, so don't plan around a rerun that hasn't been announced.
What does Midori do?
GameWith lists Midori as an SSR Long Sword Assault adventurer with the Fire element. Fire is the top weakness of monsters including Barroth, Paolumu and Great Jagras, and their Radiant forms. See the full weakness chart. If you already have a strong Fire character, that counts against pulling. Our build planner shows who else covers each element.
Do you need Midori to play?
Opinions differ. App reviews complain about gacha characters being too central, while some players say you can get by with the characters you already have. We can't settle that with data yet, so we've put what we know on the pay-to-win page.
