Monster Hunter Outlanders Reroll Guide

Should you reroll in Monster Hunter Outlanders? The real odds of Midori per attempt, the steps for each server, how long it takes, and when to stop.

Quick answer

Most players shouldn’t chase a specific character by rerolling. With 10 Featured pulls you have a 3% chance of Midori, so you’d need about 33 attempts on average, or roughly 11 to 22 hours at 20 to 40 minutes each. If you do reroll, stop at the first strong SSR.

We haven't run these steps ourselves. They come from the guides listed below, which disagree on some details, so check your own menus before you delete anything.

Should you reroll?

Probably not, unless you really want one character. GameWith advises against it too, because a run takes a long time and SSR pulls are unlikely. You also start with your own Fated Adventurer, and guides say Luka and Pyro are free to obtain, so you won't be stuck without a character.

Here's what the official rates mean for one attempt:

Pulls in one attemptChance of MidoriAverage attempts neededTime at 20 to 40 min each
10 Featured3.00%About 3311 to 22 hours
20 Featured5.99%About 176 to 11 hours
30 Featured8.96%About 114 to 7 hours

We don't know exactly how many Featured pulls you can reach at the start, because it depends on your mail and server. GameWith lists 5 Featured Contracts from the Shop, plus 200 Rutacoin and pull items in mail.

Aiming for any SSR is far easier. Ten pulls on the Beginner banner give you a 5.84% chance of one, and that banner guarantees an SSR adventurer by pull 50 anyway, so you'll get one without rerolling. Check the numbers with the pity calculator.

How long does a reroll take?

Guides disagree. GameWith says about 20 to 30 minutes for a first run, and says you can skip the tutorial from the second run on. Pocket Gamer says redoing the tutorial takes roughly 40 minutes, with a skip button for cutscenes. Time your first run before you commit to a dozen more.

How to reroll

These steps follow GameWith's guide:

  1. Install the game and log in with a guest account.
  2. Create your character, and choose a control mode. GameWith suggests Adventure while rerolling.
  3. Clear the combat tutorial against Rathian, then choose your weapon type.
  4. Continue until you craft the Kulu-Ya-Ku Set and unlock Recruitment. The tutorial gives a guaranteed Raya in a 10-pull.
  5. Claim your pull items from Mail.
  6. Pull on the Beginner and Featured banners.
  7. Exchange for more contracts in the Shop, and pull again.
  8. If you aren't happy, reset using one of the methods below.

How to reset your account

This is where guides differ most, and it may depend on your version.

Before you delete anything

Make sure you know how to recover your account, and don't delete one with anything you want to keep. Pocket Gamer also warns that playing as a guest means missing pre-registration rewards. Once you're happy with your pulls, bind the account straight away, because a guest account is easy to lose.

Who should you reroll for?

Opinions vary widely, which is one more reason not to spend hours on this. GameWith's reroll list, updated November 1, looks like this:

RatingAdventurers
SSMidori
SPepper, Arkaya
AKeres
BRhodes
CLuka, Pyro, Luxheart, Ryunosuke

Luka and Pyro rate low there because GameWith says they're free, not because they're necessarily weak. Compare this with other lists on our tier list page.

When should you stop?

GameWith suggests stopping once you have Midori and Pepper, or any one adventurer rated S or better. We'd go further: set a limit before you start, such as three attempts, and take the best result. The hours you save are worth more than a small edge, because you'll be earning contracts as you play. See how to get contracts.

Is rerolling allowed?

We found no clear statement either way in the parts of the user agreement we read. Using more than one free account may still carry risk, so don't reroll on an account you've spent money on.
